Wiring ZKTeco Biometric device with the door

How to wire a ZKTeco Access Control device with the door

Have you ever wondered how can you open the door by using your fingerprint or your ID Card?

Do you have an installation where you need to "wire" (connect) a ZKTeco device to open a door ?

All right then... Stop looking over the forums and websites ! because here you'll find all the information you have been searching.

  • About ZKTeco devices :

There are two categories of functions that ZKTeco devices can provide: Attendance Management and Access Control.

  • Attendance Management device : Only allows people to register their presence by check-in / check-out logs within the day. Those logs can be downloaded to a software to generate a daily/monthly attendance reports.
  • Access Control device : does the same work as an Attendance Management device, and also provides the ability to open a door when a registred person confirms his/her identity using fingerprint or ID Card on this device.

The purpose of this article is to show you how you can wire a ZKTeco Access Control device to allow opening the door by identifying and confirming registred employees, and also by using an exit push button (from inside the office to go out).

Depending on your door type and how it's made, it can be locked with a normal electrical door lock or by an electromagnetic lock. Both of them are powered with 12V DC power supply.

  • How to do the wiring connections :

Below is a typical wiring diagram for ZKTeco devices :

NC = Normally Close : This connection is used to maintain the power electricity for the electromagnetic lock so the door remain closed.  It's very simple: while the power is ON the door is closed, if the power goes OFF then the door will open. And so, when this connection is triggered by a valid employee identification on the device, it will cut the electricity off from the electromagnetic lock and the door will open.

NO = Normally Open : This connection operate in the opposite way of the NC. It's used with a normal door lock so the door will be opened ONLY when it's triggered by a valid employee identification on the device, and then the door lock will be powered on to allow the employee to open that door.

PS : always use NC or NO connection with COM to complete the circuit. Otherwise the wiring will fail.

Exit Button : this accessory known by Push button as well, is used to open a door mostly from the inside like to exit the office or to open the office door from the reception desk without any identification information necessary. This button required two wires to be connected to GND+BUT on the device board and it doesn't need any power supply.

  • How to use a ZKTeco Access Control device with a turnstile

As one of the access control solutions, the turnstile is a mecanism that can block the employees access to their company from the main entry until they confirm their identities by punching an ID Card or putting a valid fingerprint into the biometric access control device.

Beside the electrical wiring of the turnstile (which is based on 110V/220V power source), it needs to be connected with the access control device such as a Standalone Reader (like ZKTeco F18 / MA300 ) or a Control Panel (like ZKTeco INBIO series) to permet the employees access through it.

This connection between the turnstile and the access control device is nothing simple than two thin wires (ex. UTP cable) coming from the NO/COM of the device and connected into the turnstile motherboard, exactly in the Open INPUT connection (depending on the access direction : entry or exit).
Each access control device can open only one-way direction at the same time and not both ways.

The diagram above shows a wiring example between two ZKTeco access control devices : F18 and MA300. Both devices will send the open signal from the NO/COM Connection to the turnstile.
  • F18 as an Entry device: the wires will  be connected into the Open INPUT that will allow to open the turnstile from A to B direction (Entry)
  • MA300 as an Exit device : the wires will  be connected into the Open INPUT that will allow to open the turnstile from B to A direction (Exit)

Important information :
In some cases, we can use a push button to open one-way access direction (entry or exit) or both ways and the wiring into the turnstile motherboard is the same as with the access control devices.

How to : Reset ZKTeco device Admin Affirm Password

Reset/Eliminate Admin Affirm Password from ZKTeco biometric machine (ALL POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS) Scenario introduction : When you install a new ZKTeco Attendance device, register the users and set all the settings (network connection, date & time adjustment...) this device remain open for everyone who wants to access its main menu and change these settings. To prevent the device data from being modified by an unauthorized person, the installer must set an Admininstator for it. This Administrator can be one of the employees such as the HR Manager, the Attendance Manager, in this case the administrator can open the device menu with his fingerprint/ID Card,  it can be an independent user account (not an employee) and so to access the menu , it must be done with an ID and password. The thing is when the Administrator is not longer working for the company (he resigned or change his position or fired), the new attendance manager find himself/herself stuck with a locked device with no inform

ZKTime.NET 3.3.1.6 Full License (Best solution)

ZKTime.Net 3.x.x License expired...Not anymore (The best solution for all versions) The attendance management software ZKTime.Net is still taking place amoung ZKTeco softwares to manage biometric devices for attendance and access control purposes. However, the software users find themselves stuck in using it after the first 3 months trial version unless they buy a valid license to avoid losing their attendance data. But since not all of those users know this information and didn't take this point on their company's budget (or their own). So this side of people prefer to find "another way" to continue using ZKTime.Net without buying a license. And this is the main goal of this post, to help you (my dear reader) and other people to keep their software in action. If you want to know how to get rid of ZKTime.Net license expiration message, i suggest you to read and follow the instructions as described below. PS : This is the best solution to this problem so far and it'

Reset ZKTeco Admin Affirm Password (Tamper button)

How to reset / unlock ZKTeco Biometric device from Admin Affirm Password using the Tamper button ZKTeco Access Control and Attendance devices are taking a large space among other access control brands, because there are easy to install and use, and also thanks to their good quality/price advantage. Anyway, when you install a new ZKTeco device you need to protect its menu access by an Administrator password (known as Supervisor ), so that only authorized persons can change and adjust the device settings. However, when the administrator is gone without leaving the information about how to open the ZKTeco device's menu, this can be a big problem for you if you are the new "Admin". So when you press the menu button you will get the famous message on the device screen : Admin Affirm . In a previous post I have explained how to unlock ZKTeco Device from Admin with two different ways (which can work with a lot of ZKTeco models) :  Using Attendance Management software over t
